Listed and constructed in 1885 - 1887 by the Caledonian Railway Company to the designs of Architect James Miller, the building formed part of the development of a low-level suburban railway line.
Since the close of the railway in the 1950s' the building has been used as twelve flats and maisonettes of three or four apartments each.
The attic rooms are enclosed in a mansard roof with flanks of green westmoreland slates laid in diminishing courses and to the top with a flat roof that was originally lead covered.
Commercial accommodation comprises nine units on the level at Great Western Road.
Contract Works Included:
- Chimney/Facade masonry conservation.
- Re-slating of all pitched roof areas.
- Re-introduction of original lead works.
- Replacement of traditional timber hung sash and casement windows.
- Restoration and replacement of existing terracotta balustrade.
- New traditional shop fronts.

As part of local significant regeneration plans the former baths have undergone a major refurbishment to upgrade the building to a new leisure complex.
Traditionally built in yellow sandstone the listed building has many architectural highlights such as a grand colonnade to Gairbraid Avenue and impressive arched masonry which in years gone by used to provide access into the old "lamplighters" building adjoining the baths.
Contract Works Included:
- Photographic recording of masonry.
- Downtaking of feature arches and subsequent rebuilding of same to original photographs.
- Downtaking of masonry elevations and subsequently rebuilding in traditional lime mortars.
- Facade conservation and restoration using matching sandstone and lime mortar.

Appointed as specialist masonry contractor the project was a new house of substantial size and quality. Built in both rubble and dimensioned plain and profiled natural sandstone of the clients choosing and incorporating fluted balcony balustrade to all elevations and feature apex panels.

- Supply/Profile/Build all natural sandstone in lime mortar profiled to Architects drawings.
